Mesquite is a settled, practical east Dallas County city with a housing stock that is mostly mid-century and mostly straightforward to work on. What people here generally want from a roofer is honesty about whether the job actually needs doing.

Straightforward houses, two recurring issues
The bulk of Mesquite's housing is 1960s and 70s single-storey suburban stock. Simple gable and hip roofs, shallow to moderate pitches, modest areas. As roofing jobs go these are about as uncomplicated as North Texas offers — with two things that come up again and again.
Ventilation. Attics on homes of this era were ventilated to the standard of the day, which is well short of current practice. Trapped summer heat degrades shingles from underneath, and in a Texas August the temperature differential is substantial. A new roof over a poorly ventilated attic ages faster than it should regardless of what was paid for it.
Layers. A significant number of Mesquite roofs were covered rather than stripped at a previous replacement. That conceals the decking condition, adds weight, and holds heat. We tear off to the deck so the substrate can be inspected and repaired before anything new goes down.
Neither is difficult to deal with. Both are expensive to ignore.
Hail at the eastern edge
Storm systems crossing the Metroplex have often travelled a long way by the time they reach eastern Dallas County, but they still arrive with hail most spring seasons.
The damage pattern is the usual one and it is the reason so much of it goes unclaimed: granules knocked off the exposed slopes, seal strips broken along the ridge, soft metals dented. Invisible from the ground, and by the time it produces a leak the reporting window on the policy has usually closed.
If a storm has been through Mesquite, the sensible move is a free inspection while the damage is fresh and documentable. If there is a claim to make we will handle the documentation; if there is not, we will say so.
What we will not do

If the roof has five years left, that is what we will tell you — and we would rather come back in five years than sell you something now on a story you cannot check.
